Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Beef Patty
In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form the mixture into 2 patties.
- 2
Cook the Patties
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your preferred doneness.
- 3
Caramelize the Onions
In a separate pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- 4
Assemble the Patty Melt
On one slice of rye bread, layer a beef patty, followed by caramelized onions, a slice of cheddar cheese, and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with another slice of rye bread.
- 5
Grill the Sandwich
In the skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the assembled sandwich and grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
- 6
Serve
Slice the patty melts in half and serve warm.
