Baking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and active dry yeast. Mix well. Gradually add the water and olive oil while stirring until a sticky dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. The dough will be quite wet, so you may need to flour your hands and the surface as you knead.
- 3
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- 4
Shape the Loaf
Once the dough has risen, gently deflate it and transfer it to a floured surface. Shape it into a rough rectangle and then fold it over itself a few times. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 5
Second Rise
Transfer the shaped dough onto a floured baking sheet or parchment paper. Cover it loosely with a cloth and let it rise for another 30-40 minutes.
- 6
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a baking stone or a baking tray inside to heat up as well.
- 7
Bake the Bread
Carefully transfer the risen dough onto the hot baking stone or tray. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 8
Cool the Bread
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
