Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage, ground beef, veal, and pork until browned. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables and Seasoning

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the meat mixture. Sauté until the onion is translucent. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, half of the parmesan cheese, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Layer the Lasagna

In a half pan (10x12x4 inches), spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of noodles on top, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, half of the mozzarella, and more meat sauce. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, remaining meat sauce, mozzarella, and the rest of the parmesan cheese on top.

  6. 6

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
