Baking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and anise seeds.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until combined. Fold in the chopped almonds.

  5. 5

    Shape the Dough

Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a log about 2 inches wide and 3 inches long on the prepared baking sheet.

  6. 6

    First Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

  7. 7

    Slice and Second Bake

Carefully slice the logs into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Lay them cut side down on the baking sheet and return to the oven for another 15-20 minutes, until crisp.

  8. 8

    Cool and Store

Remove from the oven and let the biscotti cool completely on a wire rack before storing in an airtight container.
