Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Incorporate Corn and Jalapeño
Gently fold in the corn kernels and chopped jalapeño until evenly distributed.

Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Corn Poppers
Using a tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway.

Drain and Serve
Remove the fried corn poppers with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with a side of ranch dressing.
