Meatballs and Sauce
Method
Preparation and Cooking
Make the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet.
Bake the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
Prepare the Sauce
In a saucepan, heat the tomato sauce over medium heat. Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Assemble the Dish
In a baking dish, layer the meatballs with the sauce. Sprinkle mozzarella and provolone cheese on top.
Bake the Cheese
Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
