Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribeye

Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a heavy skillet (preferably cast iron) over high heat until it's very hot. You can test it by flicking a few drops of water onto the surface; they should sizzle and evaporate immediately.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Place the ribeye in the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it. This will create a nice crust.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Aromatics

Flip the steak and add the butter and rosemary to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steak with the melted butter and rosemary.

  6. 6

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature; 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare. Cook longer if needed.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately, optionally garnished with additional rosemary.
