Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to make fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch for crispier fries.

  3. 3

    Drain and Dry

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil and fry for 4-5 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, season them with salt and black pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the crispy salt ‘n pepper fries immediately as a side dish or snack.
