Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add the flour and salt, and knead until smooth. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- 2
Shape the Pide
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into an oval shape, about 1/2 inch thick. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Add Toppings
Melt the butter and brush it generously over the dough. Sprinkle sesame seeds, black pepper, and paprika on top. Make two small wells in the center of each pide for the eggs.
- 4
Add the Eggs
Crack an egg into each well on the pide. Be careful not to break the yolk.
- 5
Bake the Pide
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the egg whites are set.
- 6
Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then cut into slices and serve warm.
