Falafel Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas. Place them in a food processor.

  2. 2

    Add Fresh Ingredients

Add the chopped parsley, cilantro, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper to the food processor. Pulse until the mixture is well combined but still slightly chunky.

  3. 3

    Form the Mixture

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the flour until fully incorporated. If the mixture is too wet, add a bit more flour.

  4. 4

    Shape the Falafel

Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls or patties, about the size of a golf ball.

  5. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  6. 6

    Fry the Falafel

Carefully drop the falafel balls into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the falafel with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with tahini sauce or in pita bread with fresh veggies.
