Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.

  3. 7

    Add Tomato Sauce

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 8

    Add Cheese

Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them evenly over the sauce.

  5. 9

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle olive oil over the pizza and sprinkle with salt to taste.

  6. 10

    Bake the Pizza

Transfer the pizza to a pizza stone or baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  7. 11

    Add Fresh Basil

Remove the pizza from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, and let it cool for a minute before slicing.
