Method
Meatballs Preparation
- 1
Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Shape Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Bake Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and slightly browned.
Pomodoro Sauce Preparation
- 4
Sauté Onion and Garlic
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes, until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, until fragrant.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 6
Combine Meatballs with Sauce
Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the pomodoro sauce. Stir gently to coat the meatballs with the sauce and let them simmer together for 5 minutes.
Final Assembly
- 7
Add Provolone
Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese over the meatballs in the sauce. Cover the skillet and let it cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 8
Serve
Remove from heat and serve the beef meatballs hot, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
