Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the pasta of your choice (250g) and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve a cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
Preparing the Bolognese Sauce
- 3
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet or saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 500g of ground beef or ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- 4
Sauté Vegetables
Add 1 finely chopped onion, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1 diced carrot, and 1 diced celery stalk to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables soften.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in 400g of canned crushed tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, and 1 teaspoon of dried basil. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 6
Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the sauce becomes too thick, add some reserved pasta water.
Combining and Serving
- 7
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained pasta to the Bolognese sauce and toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated.
- 8
Serve
Plate the pasta and top with grated Parmesan cheese (50g). Serve hot and enjoy!
