Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form the Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs approximately 1-1.5 inches in diameter.

Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set aside.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 10 minutes.

Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Add the browned meatballs back into the skillet with the tomato sauce. Cover and simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes.

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

Assemble the Dish
Transfer the meatballs and sauce to a baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil, and serve hot.
