Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water.
Making the Sauce

Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.

Add Garlic
Once the butter has melted, add 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Pour in Cream
Slowly pour in 1 cup of heavy cream while stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Add Parmesan
Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and combined into a creamy sauce.

Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1 teaspoon of grated nutmeg. Mix well.
Combining Pasta and Sauce

Combine Fettuccine and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccine pasta to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly.

Adjust Consistency
If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Serving

Plate the Fettuccine
Serve the fettuccine Alfredo hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
