Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a platter.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Sauté the Aromatics
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- 5
Prepare the Sauce
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.
- 6
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Add the browned meatballs back into the skillet with the marinara sauce. Simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Combine and Serve
Serve the spaghetti topped with the marinara sauce and meatballs. Garnish with additional grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired.
