Method
Pizza Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water and then sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) for at least 30 minutes to ensure it's hot enough.
- 6
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch round shape.
- 7
Add Sauce and Cheese
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the base and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- 8
Add the Toppings
Evenly distribute the pepperoni slices, cooked sausage, sliced mushrooms, and roasted red peppers over the cheese.
- 9
Bake the Pizza
Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 10
Cool and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.
