Cook the Lasagna Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Cheese Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, two cups of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined.

Layer the Ingredients
In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by half of the ricotta cheese mixture. Add another layer of marinara sauce, followed by more noodles. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of noodles topped with the remaining marinara sauce.

Add Toppings
Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the top layer of marinara sauce. Add fresh basil leaves for garnish.
Baking

Bake the Lasagna
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Rest and Serve
Once baked, let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm, garnished with additional basil if desired.
