Crab Cakes

Method

Preparation and Serving

  1. 1

    Make the Crab Cake Mixture

In a large bowl, gently combine the lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and black pepper until just mixed.

  2. 2

    Form the Crab Cakes

Shape the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill the Crab Cakes

Cover the crab cakes with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them firm up.

  4. 4

    Cook the Crab Cakes

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Cook the crab cakes for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Tartar Sauce

Serve the crab cakes with tartar sauce, which can be store-bought or homemade.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Cole Slaw

Prepare a simple cole slaw using shredded cabbage, carrots, and a dressing of your choice (mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper) and mix well.

  7. 7

    Cook the Waffle Fries

Prepare waffle fries according to package instructions or make homemade waffle fries by cutting potatoes into waffle shapes and frying or baking until crispy.

  8. 8

    Serve the Platter

Arrange the crab cakes, cole slaw, and waffle fries on a platter. Serve with lemon wedges and additional tartar sauce on the side.
