Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Wasabi Slaw

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and grated carrots.

  2. 2

    Make the Dressing

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots, and toss to combine. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Season the Tuna

Pat the yellowfin tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Rub the blackening seasoning evenly over both sides of the tuna.

  4. 4

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until very hot. Add a little oil to the pan if desired. Sear the tuna steaks for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or until desired doneness is achieved.

  5. 5

    Plate the Dish

Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Slice the tuna into thick slices.

  6. 6

    Serve

On a plate, arrange the wasabi slaw, top with sliced tuna, and garnish with pickled ginger. Drizzle with soy sauce and serve immediately.
