Beer Battered Fish
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Fish
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth. Dip each fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- 2
Fry the Fish
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the battered fish to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 3
Cook the Waffle Fries
Prepare the waffle fries according to package instructions, typically baking or frying until crispy. Season with salt.
- 4
Make the Cole Slaw
In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and grated carrot. In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
