Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Add the diced onion, minced garlic, carrots, peas, and corn to the skillet with the beef. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Create Gravy

Pour in the beer and beef broth, then stir in Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened.

Whipped Potatoes Preparation

  1. 4

    Cook the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into even chunks. Place them in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 5

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter and milk, then mash until smooth. Season with salt to taste.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 6

    Assemble the Pie

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a baking dish, spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly. Top with the whipped potatoes, spreading them to cover the filling completely.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

  3. 8

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your hearty Shepherd's Pie!
