1. Prepare Baking Soda Bath
In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil.
2. Shape the Pretzels
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape it into a pretzel.
3. Boil the Pretzels
Carefully place each shaped pretzel into the boiling baking soda bath for about 30 seconds. Remove them carefully and let them drain on a wire rack.
4. Add Toppings
Brush each pretzel with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. For a unique twist, drizzle or brush with beer.
5. Bake
Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Place the pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
