Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all ingredients: pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Russian dressing, and marble rye bread. Ensure that the sauerkraut is drained well to avoid sogginess.

Assembly

  1. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

Lay out two slices of marble rye bread on a clean surface. Spread 2 tablespoons of Russian dressing evenly on each slice of bread.

  2. 3

    Layer the Ingredients

On one slice of bread, layer half of the pastrami, followed by 2 slices of Swiss cheese, and then 1/2 cup of sauerkraut. Top with the remaining pastrami and another slice of Swiss cheese.

  3. 4

    Complete the Sandwich

Place the second slice of bread (with dressing) on top of the layered ingredients, dressing side down, to complete the sandwich.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Grill the Sandwich

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once hot, add a small amount of butter or oil to the skillet. Place the sandwich in the skillet, cooking for about 4-5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

  2. 6

    Flip and Cook

Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula. Press down gently on the sandwich and cook the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy and golden.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Once cooked, remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute. Slice the sandwich in half and serve with extra Russian dressing on the side for dipping.
