Method
Nashville Hot Chicken
- 1
Prepare Chicken
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken thighs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Fry Chicken
In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Mix flour, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a separate bowl. Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each chicken thigh in the flour mixture, coating evenly. Fry in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
Ricotta & Thyme Waffle
- 3
Mix Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. In another bowl, combine ricotta, thyme, milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry until just combined.
- 4
Cook Waffles
Preheat a waffle iron. Pour the batter into the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown and crispy. Repeat until all batter is used.
Hefeweizen Maple Syrup
- 5
Combine Syrup
In a saucepan over low heat, combine maple syrup and hefeweizen beer. Stir gently until warmed through. Do not boil.
Pickles and Slaw
- 6
Prepare Slaw
In a large bowl, combine shredded red cabbage, shredded carrot, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
Sweet Potato Fries
- 7
Prepare and Bake Fries
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss sweet potato fries with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until crispy.
Sliders Assembly
- 8
Assemble Sliders
Slice the waffles into smaller pieces that fit the slider buns. Place a piece of waffle on the bottom half of each slider bun, followed by a piece of fried chicken, a spoonful of slaw, a pickle slice, and a drizzle of hefeweizen maple syrup. Top with the other half of the bun.
