Muddle the Sugar
In a rocks glass, place the sugar cube and add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Muddle them together until the sugar is dissolved.

Add Whiskey
Pour in 2 oz of whiskey over the muddled sugar and bitters mixture.

Add Ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill the drink.

Stir
Gently stir the mixture with a bar spoon to combine the flavors.

Garnish
Express the oils of an orange twist over the top of the drink, then place it in the glass along with the maraschino cherry. Optionally, add an additional slice of orange as garnish.
