Toppings
Method
Prepare the Bourbon Glaze
- 1
Cook the Glaze
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, bourbon, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and ground black pepper. Stir continuously until the brown sugar has dissolved and the mixture begins to simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
Prepare the Burger Patties
- 2
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.
- 3
Form Patties
Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, slightly larger than the burger buns to account for shrinkage during cooking.

Add Cheese
After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.
Assemble the Burger
- 6
Toast the Buns
While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
- 7
Build the Burger
Place the cooked burger patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Drizzle with bourbon glaze, top with fried onions, shredded lettuce, and tomato slices. Cover with the top half of the bun.
