Method

BREAKFAST

  1. 1

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides to make it easier to lift out the toffee later.

  2. 2

    Melt the Butter and Sugars

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and light corn syrup. Mix until well combined and bring the mixture to a boil.

  3. 3

    Boil the Mixture

Once boiling, continue to cook the mixture for about 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly until it reaches a light golden color. Be careful not to burn it.

  4. 4

    Add Vanilla and Nuts

Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

  5. 5

    Pour Into Pan

Immediately pour the toffee mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula. Let it cool for about 10 minutes.

  6. 6

    Melt the Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.

  7. 7

    Spread Chocolate on Toffee

Once the toffee is slightly cooled but still warm, pour the melted chocolate over the top and spread it evenly with a spatula.

  8. 8

    Sprinkle with Sea Salt

Sprinkle the sea salt over the melted chocolate to enhance the flavors.

  9. 9

    Cool and Set

Let the toffee chocolate bar set at room temperature for at least 2 hours or until fully hardened.

  10. 10

    Cut and Serve

Once set, lift the toffee out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into bars and serve.
