1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them with butter and dusting with flour.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until the mixture is smooth.

4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

5. Pour into Cake Pans

Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Tap the pans gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles.
