Fries

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to form fries, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a large bowl filled with cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which will help them become crispier.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the correct temperature.

  4. 4

    Dry the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried fries to the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 4-5 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and the grated Parmesan cheese. Toss gently to coat the fries evenly.

  7. 7

    Garnish with Herbs

Finally, sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the fries for added flavor and presentation.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the basket of fries hot, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
