Soup Preparation

Prepare the Lentils
Rinse the lentils thoroughly under cold water. Drain and set aside.

Sauté the Onion
In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add Lentils and Seasonings
Add the prepared lentils to the pot along with 4 cups of water, cumin powder, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil.

Simmer
Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the soup simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the lentils are tender.

Finish with Lime and Parsley
Once the lentils are cooked, stir in the chopped parsley and the juice of the lime. Adjust seasonings if necessary.
Crouton Preparation

Prepare the Croutons
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread slices into cubes.

Bake the Croutons
Spread the seasoned bread cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crunchy.
