Method

Gyros Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Meat

Choose between beef/lamb or chicken gyros. If using beef/lamb, slice thinly against the grain. If using chicken, cut into strips.

  2. 2

    Cook the Gyros

In a skillet over medium-high heat, add a little olive oil. Cook the meat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until cooked through and slightly crispy.

  3. 3

    Warm the Pita

In the same skillet or on a grill, warm the pita bread for about 1-2 minutes on each side until soft and pliable.

Tzatziki Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Cucumber

Grate the cucumber and then squeeze out excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel.

  2. 5

    Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, dill, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth.

  3. 6

    Chill

Cover the tzatziki sauce and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Assembling the Platter

  1. 7

    Assemble Gyros

Place a portion of cooked gyros meat onto each warmed pita bread.

  2. 8

    Add Tzatziki

Generously top the gyros with tzatziki sauce.

  3. 9

    Serve with Sides

Choose any two side items (Greek salad, fries, hummus, or stuffed grape leaves) and serve them alongside the gyros platter.
