Preparing the Filling

Chop the Walnuts
In a food processor, pulse the walnuts until they are finely chopped but not ground to a powder.

Mix Filling Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped walnuts with sugar, cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter. Mix well and set aside.
Preparing the Phyllo Dough

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent drying out. Melt 1 cup of butter.
Assembling the Baklava

Spread a layer of the walnut filling over the phyllo. Layer 4 more sheets of phyllo on top, brushing each with butter. Repeat this process until all the filling is used, finishing with a top layer of phyllo (about 8 sheets).
