French Toast

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Custard

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

  2. 2

    Assemble the French Toast

Spread Nutella on one side of each slice of bread. Sandwich two slices together with Nutella in the middle to make a total of 4 sandwiches.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the French Toast

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then place in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

  2. 4

    Caramelize the Sugar

Sprinkle sugar evenly over the top of each slice and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until it forms a hard crust. If you don’t have a torch, you can place the French toast under a broiler for a couple of minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate and Serve

Serve the crème brûlée French toast warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side and a dusting of powdered sugar.
