Pulled Pork Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Trim any excess fat from the pork shoulder and season it with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the seasonings all over the meat to ensure even coating.
- 2
Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder into a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water to the cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is fork-tender.
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.
- 4
Add BBQ Sauce
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix in the BBQ sauce. Allow it to heat through for an additional 30 minutes on low.
Sides Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Coleslaw
In a large bowl, combine coleslaw mix with your choice of dressing (store-bought or homemade). Mix well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- 6
Bake the Cornbread
Prepare cornbread according to package instructions or your favorite recipe. Bake until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
