    Prepare the Glass

    Take a lowball glass or an old fashioned glass and place it on a stable surface.

    Muddle the Sugar

    Place the sugar cube in the glass. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters directly onto the sugar cube.

    Add Water

    Add a few drops of water (about a teaspoon) to help dissolve the sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to crush the sugar cube and bitters together until the mixture is well combined.

    Add Ice

    Fill the glass with 3 ice cubes, leaving enough space for the bourbon.

    Pour the Bourbon

    Measure 2 ounces of bourbon and pour it over the ice in the glass.

    Garnish with Orange Peel

    Take a strip of orange peel and twist it over the drink to release its oils, then place the peel into the glass.

    Add Cherry

    Drop a maraschino cherry into the glass for an additional garnish and flavor.
