Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ribs
Start by removing the membrane from the back of the pork ribs. This will help the spices penetrate the meat better. Rinse the ribs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Make the Spice Rub
In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
- 3
Rub the Spice Mixture
Generously rub the spice mixture all over the pork ribs, ensuring even coverage. Let the ribs sit for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors, or refrigerate for several hours or overnight for deeper flavor.
Cooking
- 4
Slow Cook the Ribs
Place the seasoned ribs in a slow cooker. In a separate bowl, mix together BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Pour the sauce mixture over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated.
- 5
Cook on Low
Cover the slow cooker and set it to low. Cook the ribs for 6 to 8 hours, or until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone easily.
- 6
Finish Under Broiler (Optional)
For a caramelized finish, preheat your oven broiler. Once the ribs are done cooking, carefully remove them from the slow cooker and place them on a baking sheet. Brush additional BBQ sauce over the ribs and broil for 3-5 minutes until bubbly and slightly charred.
