Cocktail Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Begin by chilling a rocks glass. To do this, fill the glass with ice water and set it aside while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Muddle the Sugar

In a separate mixing glass, place the sugar cube and add a couple of dashes of Peychaud's Bitters. Muddle the sugar and bitters together until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. 3

    Add the Whiskey

Pour in the Sazerac Rye Whiskey to the mixing glass with the muddled sugar and bitters. Add ice to the mixing glass and stir gently until well chilled.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Absinthe Glass

Empty the chilled rocks glass of ice water. Then, add the Absinthe to the glass and swirl it around to coat the inside. Discard any excess Absinthe.

  5. 5

    Combine and Garnish

Strain the chilled whiskey mixture into the prepared glass with the Absinthe. Finally, express the oils from the lemon peel over the drink and drop it into the glass as a garnish.
