Method

Burger Patty Preparation

1

Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

2

Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

3

Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

4

Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. Add cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Assembling the Burger

5

Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster, if desired.

6

Slice the Tomato

Wash the tomato and slice it into thin rounds.

7

Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and your choice of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
