Method

Prepare the Coffee

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee using a coffee maker or espresso machine. Allow it to cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix Coffee and Liqueur

In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso with 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur. Stir gently to mix.

Prepare the Mascarpone Cream

  1. 3

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

  2. 4

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold in 16 oz of mascarpone cheese until smooth and well combined.

  3. 5

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

  4. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully integrated, being cautious not to deflate the cream.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Soak Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

    Layer the Ingredients

In a 9x9 inch dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer at the bottom.

  3. 9

    Spread Cream Mixture

Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.

  4. 10

    Repeat Layers

Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone cream.

  5. 11

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Serve the Tiramisu

  1. 12

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings.

  2. 13

    Slice and Serve

Slice the tiramisu into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your classic Italian dessert!
