Method
Meatballs
Prepare the Meatball Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Shape the Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake the Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until they are browned and cooked through.
Spaghetti
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.
Cook the Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
Drain the Spaghetti
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Tomato Sauce
Sauté the Onions and Garlic
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
Add the Tomatoes and Herbs
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, then add dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and sugar. Stir well and let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Combine with Meatballs
Once the meatballs are done, add them to the tomato sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes.
Assembly
Serve the Dish
In a plate, serve a portion of spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional parsley or Parmesan if desired.
