Mojito Ingredients

Method

Mojito Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Select a sturdy glass (such as a highball glass) to prepare your mojito.

  2. 2

    Muddle the Mint

Place the fresh mint leaves at the bottom of the glass. Add the granulated sugar on top of the mint leaves. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the mint leaves and sugar to release the mint oils. Do not over-muddle; you want to bruise the leaves, not shred them.

  3. 3

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from both halves into the glass, ensuring the seeds are removed. You can also drop one half of the lime into the glass for extra flavor.

  4. 4

    Add Rum

Pour the white rum into the glass over the muddled mint, sugar, and lime juice.

  5. 5

    Mix Ingredients

Gently stir the mixture to combine the flavors, ensuring that the sugar dissolves completely.

  6. 6

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes, leaving some space at the top.

  7. 7

    Top with Soda Water

Pour soda water over the ice until the glass is full. Adjust the amount of soda water according to your taste preference.

  8. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge if desired. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring stick.
