Method
Cooking the Pasta
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
Add Salt
Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.
Cook the Spaghetti
Add 200 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Making the Sauce
Sauté Garlic
Add 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Add Tomatoes and Herbs
Pour in 400 grams of crushed canned tomatoes. Add 1 teaspoon of dried basil and 1 teaspoon of dried oregano. Stir to combine.
Season the Sauce
Allow the sauce to simmer for 10-15 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combine with Pasta
Once the sauce is ready, toss the drained spaghetti in the sauce until well coated.
Serve
Serve the spaghetti hot, with grated Parmesan cheese on top if desired.
