Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour along with the olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 4
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
- 5
Prepare the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or parchment paper.
- 6
Add Toppings
Slice the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. Arrange the mozzarella slices evenly over the dough. Follow with tomato slices and sprinkle with salt and olive oil.
Baking
- 7
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 8
Garnish
Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Allow to cool for a minute before slicing.
