Sauté the Onions and Mushrooms
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until both onions and mushrooms are caramelized. Season with salt and black pepper, then remove from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Impossible Meat
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add the Impossible meat, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 6-8 minutes until browned. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder, mixing until evenly combined.

Melt the Cheese
Lower the heat to medium-low, and layer the slices of white American cheese over the meat mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the cheese to melt for about 2-3 minutes.

Prepare the Hoagie Rolls
While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Lightly toast the insides if desired.
