Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Sauté the Onions and Mushrooms

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until both onions and mushrooms are caramelized. Season with salt and black pepper, then remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Impossible Meat

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add the Impossible meat, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 6-8 minutes until browned. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder, mixing until evenly combined.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the Impossible meat is cooked, stir in the sautéed onions and mushrooms until well combined. Ensure everything is heated through.

  2. 4

    Melt the Cheese

Lower the heat to medium-low, and layer the slices of white American cheese over the meat mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the cheese to melt for about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 5

    Prepare the Hoagie Rolls

While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Lightly toast the insides if desired.

  4. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

Once the cheese has melted, spoon the Impossible meat and cheese mixture into each hoagie roll. Serve immediately, garnished with additional sautéed onions or mushrooms if desired.
