Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Pan

Place a frying pan or skillet on the stove over medium heat and allow it to preheat for about 2-3 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread. This will be the side that gets grilled.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place one slice of bread, butter side down, on a plate. Add the cheese on top of the bread. If using, layer in the optional add-ons like tomato, bacon, or avocado. Finally, top with the second slice of bread, butter side up.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Grill the Sandwich

Carefully place the assembled sandwich onto the preheated pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

  2. 5

    Flip the Sandwich

Using a spatula, gently flip the sandwich over and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes, or until it's golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serving

  1. 6

    Cut and Serve

Remove the grilled cheese from the pan and let it cool for a minute. Cut the sandwich in half, if desired, and serve warm.
