Lasagna Filling

House Made Marinara

Method

Lasagna Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook Lasagna Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook for about 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Assemble Lasagna

Spread a thin layer of the cheese mixture on a plate. Lay three lasagna noodles over the mixture, then add half of the remaining cheese mixture on top. Repeat with the second layer. Finish with a final layer of noodles and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Breading and Frying

  1. 4

    Prepare Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.

  2. 5

    Bread the Lasagna

Remove the lasagna from the fridge and cut it into squares. Dip each square into the flour, then into the egg, and finally coat in the bread crumb mixture.

  3. 6

    Fry the Lasagna

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Fry the breaded lasagna squares for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Cook Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
