Method
Cooking Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil over high heat.
- 2
Cook Fettuccine
Once the water is boiling, add a generous pinch of salt and the fettuccine pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving a cup of the pasta water.
Making Alfredo Sauce
- 4
Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
- 5
- 6
Add Heavy Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Add Parmesan Cheese
Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts and the sauce becomes creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.
- 8
Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
- 9
Combine Fettuccine with Sauce
Add the drained fettuccine pasta to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- 10
Serve
Once combined, remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve immediately.
