Method

Preparing the Fries

  1. 1

    Cook the Fries

Preheat your oven as per the instructions on the frozen French fries package. Spread the frozen fries on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for the recommended time, usually about 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Fries

Once the fries are cooked, remove them from the oven. Immediately sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, tossing gently to coat evenly. Set aside while preparing the steak topping.

Preparing the Steak Topping

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

Season the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing into thin strips.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the sliced mushrooms and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes until they are tender and browned.

  3. 5

    Combine Steak and Vegetables

Add the sliced steak back into the skillet with the onions and mushrooms. Stir to combine and heat through for another minute.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 6

    Top the Fries

On a serving platter, place the seasoned fries. Evenly distribute the steak and vegetable mixture over the fries.

  2. 7

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle the shredded white American cheese over the top of the steak and fries mixture. You can place the platter under the broiler for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese if desired.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your delicious cheesesteak fries!
