Breadstick Dough

Dipping Sauce

Method

Prepare the Dough

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar. Stir until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix the warm water and olive oil. Make sure the water is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.

  3. 3

    Form the Dough

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough starts to form. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.

Shape and Bake

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 6

    Shape Breadsticks

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.

  3. 7

    Add Cheese Topping

Place the strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and dried Italian herbs over the top.

  4. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

Prepare Dipping Sauce

  1. 9

    Heat Sauce

In a small saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat until warm. Alternatively, serve it cold from the jar.

  2. 10

    Melt Garlic Butter

In another small bowl, melt the garlic butter in the microwave or on the stovetop and set aside.

Serve

  1. 11

    Plate and Serve

Once the breadsticks are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with the marinara sauce and melted garlic butter for dipping.
